Have you ever thought about the things that give you energy?
I definitely hadn’t until this week.
But, WordPress has this amazing way of asking questions through their app to promote discussion and thought, and I’m pulled in maybeeeeee 70% of the time.
So, what things give me energy? I’m going to talk about this today. Specifically, in reference to this blog.
Writing
I’ve talked about the other blogs I had in past posts (read here). But, what I’ve realised, is that I love to write.
Creating this sex blog has been risky and scary for me.
The successful mental health blogs I owned before came with a sense of seriousness. I wrote factually, but with injections of personal experience. I couldn’t write like I do here. I felt I had a responsibility to educate, and I did my best to do that.
This blog, however, allows me to inject, no, force, my personality, sarcasm, wit and humour into each and every post.
Since this blog is anonymous, I can, and do, say whatever the hell I like. The creative freedom this blog gives me gives me energy.
Writing for this blog makes me happy.
Teaching
I’m not sure if I ever explained how I became a teacher. That’s another post for another day.
However, I always knew I wanted to help society. I was finally able to fulfill this need with teaching.
I’m a childfree women, moving towards her late 30s. I love spending time with children, but I don’t want any of my own.
Being a secondary school teacher means I get to help our young adults explore their world, challenging them when needed, and pushing them to become critical thinkers.
I bloody love this part of being a teacher.
I pride myself on my unbiased teaching.
So, yeah. Teaching gives me energy. It’s the bureaucratic extras that cause burn out.
Reading
I go through phases when it comes to reading. Right now, I’ve got a few things on the go.
One is a paperback ADHD book called “Small Talk” written by Richard and Roxanne Pink. I bought it through Amazon here.
Whilst I wait for an ADHD assessment, I’ve been reading and learning more about ADHD in women. The couple that wrote this book can be found through: their website or Facebook. They can also be found on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
The other things I’ve been reading are free online courses that the Open University offers.
Take a look here.
I’ve recently completed:
The philosophy of religion
Careers education and guidance
I’m currently working through:
Learning classical Latin
How do empires work?
Changing cities
Assessment in secondary geography
I also have a Kindle donated by my mum and have thrillers of different kinds downloaded on it.
So, yeah. Reading gives me energy. But, I am going through a reading phase right now. It’s been months since I’ve had the energy to read. A double-edged sword, if you will.
The final point I wrote for this blog post was labeled “helping others”. When outlining a blog post, I always create discussion points/subheadings.
I decided to remove this discussion point as I felt that I’d already addressed it.
That’s not to say that I don’t get energy from helping others. I do. But, me helping others comes from this blog, through teaching, and the way I life my life.
Alright, my loves.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this!
Toodles.
