Forbidden Fridays #20

First off, apologies that I didn’t get to post this yesterday! I’ve been feeling bad for missing the usual schedule for the first ever time. Berating myself is my skill, don’t you know? If you’ve been here a while, you’ll probably know this already!

Anyway, I developed an aura migraine last weekend and I had been feeling dizzy, too. Thankfully the headache has finally passed.

If you’re even remotely interested in knowing what these are, have a read of this NHS article. The aura refers to changes in vision including flashing lights, zigzag patterns and (for me and at its worst) a rippling effect over one half of my vision.

I’ve experienced one of these before, which was really bad. It hit whilst I was teaching and I was sent to hospital pretty quickly. Half of my vision was so ripply I couldn’t see. This sounds so dramatic but I genuinely thought I was having some kind of stroke or brain aneurism.

This time wasn’t as bad and I knew what it was straight away. This time, I only got an arc-shaped ripple on one side, and I struggled to focus on my phone or work computer screen. The aura developed at work and stayed for about half an hour.

I did manage to write a post this week, but it’s been a bit of a struggle and not the best quality.
